Why Aura?
I'd be glad to explain myself.
But first, WELCOME TO MY BLOG!!! This is so exciting, I'm super happy you came to check it out. You're amazing you know that?
After months turned years of procrastination, I finally did it! Thanks to all the wonderful people that were sources of encouragement and inspiration, I love you. This is going to be a journey for sure and with your support, we can enjoy the experience/ride (caring advice- hold on tight).
This is definitely a platform to openly and productively express myself through a medium I love- words! (Not like everyone else doesn't use words...lol how else would you communicate? Actually a lot of ways, but I know you get the point)
I'm really grateful to God for life, health and all the inspiration to write, He's always number 1 (you have to admit from the bible that even He, has a way with words!)
Once again welcome to my blog! Where you can have first hand access to what goes on in my head (it's a whirlwind in there). Let me take you on a journey to beautiful discoveries, of heavy truths with light topics, lets all talk about all we've learnt in our lives in a way only we can. We are smarter that we seem.
Now back to the questions.
Firstly, Aura : according to the English dictionary is a feeling or character that a person seems to have, a distinctive atmosphere surrounding a source/ person.
mash up: an aura is a feeling or character of a person that is so distinct, it can felt/perceived off that person by others. more like your presence as a person. hmm we can say vibes too.
Your Aura is the vibe you give off to people.
ALL other definitions don't pertain to the context of this blog, and should be discarded.
So through inspiration I was able to form a simple everyday acronym for AURA.
A -Always
U- Use (the)
R- Right
A- Approach
This acronym actually goes a long way in guiding our daily decisions and actions. The biggest problems we face today as 'youths' (young bloods) is caused by going about things the wrong way. You definitely know how spontaneous we get, one wrong action of bad approach is reacted to also in a wrong way, then its all wrong turns from there till you find yourself in the middle of a hot pot of soup! And you wonder how it got so bad so quick?
Approach is everything. It goes a long way in getting what you want, trust me its tested and trusted (especially with the parents or any adult that has the position to give you what you need at any point in time).
Next, who's DOra? I am DOra. The DOra is derived from my name Deborah Orafidiya. Yes, so its actually 'D-ORA', but it can easily just be called DORA.
How did i get it? Well quick story : when I was in secondary school, I had to monogram (sew my name on) all my uniforms (popular practice in Nigerian schools), for easy identification and of course to prevent it from being stolen. The tailor monagrammed- D.ORAFIDIYA on my uniform and it was very easy to read, so at first glance you would see DORA, people then thought my name was DORA-especially the teachers that were too 'lazy' to learn new students' names (honestly that monogramming thing was just a cheat code for them lol).
Another reason the name started to make sense in my head is that kid's series Dora the explorer. Quirky- I agree (A person that is quirky also has a way with words and spends a lot of time articulating thoughts and emotions whether in a car or writing in a journal.) https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=quirky
But sometimes I relate to it because I'm an adventurous person, I don't like to just do the ordinary, i like to explore! I told myself 'you know what? DORA it is', and DORA it became.
Back to the blog, so being a lifestyle blogger it seemed really in place to have an official abbreviation that means something (Always Use Right Approach), that is applicable in our actual lives!
Then of course, I couldn't help but notice the rhyming Aura had with Dora. the case was settled. Thus the blog name was born- aurabydora.
